Activities www.newcomerswelcomeclub.org 1. Adult Community Center-Lake Oswego Meets the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month to assist with lunch service and clean-up at the center. 2. Book Nook Meets the 2nd Monday of the month, in the morning, to discuss chosen books. Each hostess chooses 3 books, members vote at the monthly meeting and the winner is the book for the following month. Free flowing discussions about the books and authors occur monthly. 3. Bridge The Bridge Group meets twice a month 4. Bunco Two groups of ladies play this fast-paced dice game. The morning group plays the 3rd Tuesday at 11 AM. The evening group plays on the Third Thursday of the month. 5. Couples Dinner Group Groups of 3-4 couples (per group) gather for monthly dinners. Some groups plan a course for each person to take to the home of one of the members on a revolving basis. Other groups plan for dinners in restaurants around the area. 6. Euchre Two couples’ groups play this quick handed trump card game currently meeting on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month. A substitute list is ongoing for those who play. 7. Trekkers The Trekkers group meets the last Thursday of the month to walk and dine. We will investigate new areas in and around Portland. This group will be doing longer, more involved walks than the Tuesday Walkers. 8. Heart-to-Heart A monthly group in which volunteers gather to fulfill various requests by local charities. Eg. sorting packages for Angel Network, collecting cleaning supplies for a local shelter, assisting with fundraisers. Activities are usually during the day. 9. Lunch Bunch These ladies meet the Wednesday following the monthly luncheon to experience the cuisine of the Portland Metro area…and beyond. 10. Mah Jongg Brought to the Western world in the late 1800s, a Mah Jongg player collects combinations of tiles while pursuing a win. This group plays on Mondays, usually 3 times a month. 11. Wine Social If wine is your interest, this group meets the 2nd Saturday of the month at 7 PM. Guests are asked to bring a favorite bottle of wine and appetizer to share an evening of fun and conversation. Singles, couples, significant others are welcome. 12. New Roots Garden Club This club meets the 2nd Friday of the month. A wide range of events from garden/nursery tours to flower arranging to garden workshop projects are planned. 13. Walking Group Hikes to beautiful Portland area locations occur every Tuesday morning (rain or shine). All abilities are encouraged to participate as various lengths & speeds of walks can be accommodated. 14. Skiing Bus trips to the slopes are available Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from January – March. Food and drink provided on the bus. 15. Theatre Group In March of each year, theatre lovers sign-up and purchase season tickets to Portland Center Stage (season runs September-May). Orchestra seating is available to participants attending the 6/7 Thurs. matinees. No specific activities are planned before or after the play; members meet, prior to the first play, to discuss carpooling and other activities, such as lunch or shopping. 16.
