Philanthropic/Community Service
The Newcomers Welcome Club, of Lake Oswego, West Linn, and surrounding areas, is proud to give back to our community through many endeavors.
Each year we help support three charities, which have been selected by a committee and voted by our membership. We do this in several ways.
1. We hold an annual auction luncheon, which is our biggest fund-raiser. The donations come from business owners, but most importantly by the generous donations of our members.
2. We sell raffle tickets at our monthly luncheons and the winner of the raffle takes home a wonderful basket of goodies/gift certificates, etc.
3. We have had a garage sale with wonderful donations by our members and friends.
We feel our donation of our time is important to our charities, so we have volunteers that take part in our Heart-to-Heart group and each month we go where we are needed. It might be to help with a mailing, get ready for an event they are holding or just to help clean. We want them to feel part of our group, not just through money donations we give them, but also through our caring and friendship.
2010-2011 Our charity is the Transitional Youth.
Our charities have included; Women’s Shelters, An Agency for grieving children, Neighborhood House for homeless families in transition, The Oregon Food Bank and many others.
